Terrible Twos

We are in the thick of it. Nothing makes Lil’bug happy. She’s generally a happy kid. Just don’t set her off. One wrong move will send everything spiraling out of control. Don’t try to dangle a carrot to get her to do what you want. She will see right through it and take you in a completely different direction. Her daycare providers cannot believe the monster she turns into right before their eyes when I pick her up. And letting her have a moment to vent does not seem to be working. I’ve tried giving her some time to calm herself. It doesn’t work. As soon as she’s calm and I step back in to move things along it starts all over again. It must be done her way. In the order in which she expects it to happen. She wants her Goldfish now, not in 30 seconds when we’re in the van. Never mind that the other children would like Goldfish too, and we don’t have enough for everyone, nor do we even know if they’re allowed to have Goldfish (allergies, you know, I don’t give another kid anything without a parent’s permission). Must have Goldfish NOW! And yes, she uses the word ‘now’ to punctuate her sentences. I will melt into a screeching puddle on the floor if I don’t have Goldfish NOW!

  1. Oh Lord…I will pray for you!

  2. Been there, done that. I’ll let you know when it’s over.
