Three Tantrums, Ten Minutes

Never fails, the more of a rush you’re in, the more your toddler will want to stop and smell the roses, and say hi to doggies, and socialize with her adoring 4th-grade fans, and stop for bagels.

This morning we left the house and headed out to the van. Lil’bug heard a dog bark down the street. All of a sudden it became imperative that we go say hi to the doggie.
No, we’re not walking down the street to say hi to the doggie.
Do you know how hard it is to get a rigid toddler into her 5-point harness?
At about the time she came down from that she decided she wanted to go into Scout’s school.
We don’t have time in the morning to stop unless it’s necessary and I’m not about to stop just because an almost 2-1/2-year-old says she wants to go to school. We were there less than 12 hours ago. She ran around like she’d found some kind of clearance sale on bottled-up energy and consumed it all in one sitting. Her other personality clings to my leg and wants to be picked up. I was not volunteering for either situation this morning.
She soon got over it and decided a bagel would make everything water-under-the-bridge.
We’re not stopping for bagels. See previous about time constraints. She’d had oatmeal before we left the house. Her Snack Traps were loaded with colored Goldfish and Honey Nut Cheerios, her two snacks of choice these days. One sweet, one savory. A juice cup and a water bottle rounded out her available options. We can stop on the way home for a bag of Thomas’ Mini Bagels.

  1. Interesting post! I love my dogs so much so I understand what your trying to say. Golden retrievers are the most beautiful dogs in the world! Love, Jane
