I Passed the Quiz

I passed. Sort of. If you consider 79 passing. If Scout came home with a grade like that I’d start rescinding privileges. I actually don’t feel too bad. A 79 on a test that most Americans don’t pass isn’t as bad as it could be, right?

The test was developed by the Intercollegiate Studies Institute (ISI).

What’s worse? The general public scored higher than elected officials. On a civics test!

MAJOR FINDINGS

  • Americans Fail the Test of Civic Literacy
  • Americans Agree: Colleges Should Teach America’s Heritage
  • College Adds Little to Civic Knowledge
  • Television—Including TV News—Dumbs America Down
  • What College Graduates Don’t Know about America

Here is more information.

You can take the test here.

Fewer than half of all Americans could identify the three branches of our government. They’re not smarter than a fifth grader. I’d like to think I am. We’ll see in June.
